How saving works
- 1
Autosave
While you work, the planner keeps a recovery copy in the current browser. Autosave is convenient but should not be your only copy of an important plan.
- 2
Save or Download
Press Save (or Download on newer plans) to get an editable PNG backup; Save on older plans also creates or updates a cloud share link.
- 3
Editable PNG
This file is both a normal image and a portable plan backup. Keep it somewhere you can find again.
Share a plan
- 1
Copy the link
Use Copy link in the Save window and send it to the person who needs the plan.
- 2
Choose the right audience
Send privately to a partner, builder or supplier. Post publicly in r/freeroomplanner only when you are comfortable for anyone to view the plan.
- 3
Understand editing
A recipient can open and work from a shared plan. If they do not own the original link, their save creates their own copy rather than overwriting yours.
Reopen or replace the current plan
- 1
Choose Load
Open an editable PNG backup. Older JSON plan files are also supported for compatibility.
- 2
Confirm the file
The planner validates the file before replacing the visible project. The maximum supported file size is 25MB.
- 3
Continue editing
All saved room tabs, walls, items, labels, notes and compatible 3D styling are restored.
Recover recent work
- Open Recent Plans from the Load flow and choose the version you want.
- Use the current browser and device first, because autosaves and recent versions are stored locally.
- If browser data has been cleared, use your editable PNG backup or cloud share link.
- If an automatic download was blocked, use the Download button in the Save window to try again.
