Start with Quick Room or manual walls
Quick Room is best for a rectangular room. Manual drawing is best for L-shapes, extensions, open-plan spaces and irregular outlines.
- 1
Quick Room
Enter width and depth, then use each side of the room to add doors or windows. Enter an opening width and choose centred or a custom offset.
- 2
Manual walls
Select Draw Walls or press W. Click to place a start point, click again for the next corner and continue. Double-click, press Escape or reconnect to the starting point to finish.
- 3
Create more than one enclosed space
Continue drawing internal walls. Each fully enclosed area is detected as a room and included in the plan overview.
Enter exact wall dimensions
- 1
Select the wall
Open the wall controls and type the exact length and thickness instead of relying on dragging.
- 2
Choose the wall type
Mark a wall as interior or exterior so the plan and 3D view use the appropriate wall treatment.
- 3
Choose what is measured
Use inside faces when your measurement is the usable room size. Use full wall when your measurement includes the wall thickness.
- 4
Move connected walls
When a wall moves, connected corners stay joined. Detach it first when you need to move that wall independently.
Control units and measurements
- Switch between metres, centimetres, millimetres, and feet and inches from the units control.
- Show or hide all measurements when the plan becomes busy.
- Use the plan overview to check total floor area, total wall length and object counts.
What Snap does
Snap is one switch with several jobs. With it on, the things you move are pulled onto the places that make a tidy plan. With it off, everything moves freely and lands exactly where you let go.
- Grid: wall ends and items settle on the grid, 1 cm in metric or 1 inch in feet and inches.
- Wall joins: a wall end you draw or drag is pulled onto nearby wall ends, wall faces and tape-measure guides, so rooms close cleanly.
- Room corners: when you drag a corner, dashed guides show where both walls would run straight and a target marks the exact 90° point. The corner lands only on that point, and the corner readout turns green and says 90° when it does. Anywhere else the readout shows the true angle, such as 89.6°.
- Items: furniture and fittings pull onto walls, line up with neighbours, and a square item dragged into a corner settles against both walls.
- Snap off: corners, walls and items move freely. The angle readout still shows the true angle, so you can see when a corner is a fraction off square.
- Hold Alt while dragging to flip Snap for that one move. Hold Shift while dragging a corner to lock it to one axis.
Add doors and windows
- 1
Open Structure
Find doors, double doors and windows in the Structure section or search for the item by name.
- 2
Place the opening on a wall
Drag or tap the item, then move it to the correct wall. Wall snapping helps it align with the wall.
- 3
Set its size and direction
Enter the exact width, rotate or mirror the item where supported, and check the door swing on the plan and in 3D.
